What Energy Medicine Taught Me About Healing From the Inside Out

There is a moment in this week's episode of the DaliTalks Podcast where Dr. Susan Edkins reads a message she channeled from the Akashic Records specifically for this community, and I want to be honest with you. I got chills.

Not because it was dramatic or mysterious. But because it was exactly what I needed to hear. And I have a feeling it might be what you need too.

Susan is the founder of Dragonfly Integrated Health, a Reiki practitioner, hypnotherapist, and Akashic Records reader who helps women navigate grief and major life transitions through guided meditation and nervous system support. She lost her husband unexpectedly in 2021, and what she discovered on the other side of that loss is the foundation of everything she now offers to other women walking through their own dark seasons.

What energy medicine actually is

Most of us grew up thinking healing meant medicine, surgery, or talk therapy. And those things matter. But there is a growing body of research, and a growing number of mainstream medical institutions, paying serious attention to what practitioners like Susan have known for years: that the body holds energy, and that energy can get stuck.

Reiki, which originated in Japan and is now taught at institutions like Duke University, works by moving that stuck energy through the body so it can process and release. It is not about curing disease. It is about restoring flow so the body and nervous system can do what they are designed to do.

Hypnotherapy bypasses the conscious mind, that constant chatter that keeps us from accessing what we actually know, and opens a pathway to the subconscious, where the deepest patterns, beliefs, and answers live. And the Akashic Records, which Susan describes as a field of consciousness holding everything a soul has ever experienced, offer a way to access guidance that goes beyond what the thinking mind can reach on its own.

"When we open ourselves to all the possibilities, the sky is the limit. Open your eyes, ears, and heart to what is going on around you. Small things matter. What seems like no big deal to you can be the thing that completely changes someone else's trajectory." — Dr. Susan Edkins, channeled from the Akashic Records

The connection to bullying prevention and conscious parenting

You might be wondering what any of this has to do with raising confident, bully-proof kids. The answer is everything.

Bullying thrives in environments where people do not know how to process their emotions, regulate their nervous systems, or access the inner wisdom that tells them something is wrong and they deserve better. Children who grow up watching adults manage stress with calm, intention, and self-awareness learn to do the same. Children who grow up in households where stress goes unprocessed, where the nervous system is always in fight or flight mode, learn that too.

Susan made a point in our conversation that has stayed with me. When we calm the nervous system down, we become less reactionary. We become more present. And the more people we have who are centered and present, the better this world becomes for everyone in it, including our kids.

That is not just energy medicine. That is conscious parenting.

One thing you can do right now

You do not need a Reiki session or a hypnotherapy appointment to start. You can start with your breath. The next time you feel your nervous system spike, pause. Take one slow breath in and a longer breath out. That single act sends a signal to your body that you are safe. And from safe, you can choose what comes next.
